Located in the Swiss alpine village of Lumino, north of Bellinzona, this house is a unitary piece, complementing and echoing the silence that exists in your environment. In the surrounding area is characterized by traditional houses built of stone, many of which date back centuries, marked by the use of this unique building material. The new house is conceived as an appropriate response and interpretation of its exposed concrete form recalls the strength and presence of these old stone houses. The house acts as a standard in the old core and modern residential expansion.
addition to local references and material, the concept and approach to the project was influenced more by the desire of customers expressing a minimalist aesthetic, both internally and externally. As such, the quality of the rooms in the house so we could define explicit architecture and not by objects placed within it. The idea of \u200b\u200b"monolith" minimalist concept was adopted as the generator of the project and became a principle applied to all elements, both functional specifications, and the construction of the program, from foundation to the smallest details of termination .
The geometry of the plan is generated by two parallelepipeds displaced following the fall of the site. The typology created by the staggered geometry underlies both the peculiarities of the landscape as well as offering each of the levels is a direct relationship with the gardens surroundings. The dual vertical connection, inside and outside, is related to all spaces of the house in a spiral movement and is in a constant play with the perception of its new inhabitants "of time and scale . The interesting thing about the house is the capacity of space to expand and extend the landscape, allowing the outside part of the composition. While individual spaces can be defined geometrically, each space of flows continue to the outside.
The principle of the house is to protect and ensure privacy and the privacy of its inhabitants, but at the same time, paradoxically, represent an air of generosity and openness to the world. The intention is to create places where residents are turned on and connected to the wider community in a particular way, beyond maddening filter of virtual communication. This physical relationship with the community restore a healthy balance of mind.
