with HOK Beck Group have designed a new museum to include some of the works of Salvador Dali. This museum is located in St. Petersburg, Florida and is inspired by the English artist's work, which combines classic and surreal. According to the director of the museum, the architecture is Dali's fantasy with respond well to certain property associated with the climate of the area.
Florida is known that a victim of strong hurricanes every year and this museum is in the ground is affected by the floods and winds. For this, the museum was designed with thick concrete walls with 18 "so that each of the valuable works remain protected.
This strong and tough rigid protective structure lines is abruptly interrupted by the organic and irregular shapes of glass that go around and punching this box. This sharp contrast of materials and shapes reflects the world of the rational and surreal that predominates in the work of Dali.
This organizational structure of glass is supported by steel triangulations, which have a special meaning associated with the admiration I had this artist by Buckminster Fuller.
